Zocalo (Plaza de la Consitutción)

It has been given some names through the time; during the viceroyalty it was named Plaza de Ánimas and Plaza Mayor, it was at the end of that period when it was finally called Plaza de la Constitution, honoring the constitution published in 1812. It reaches 46800 m², and to the north there is the Metropolitan Cathedral, the National Palace to the east, the City Council of Mexico City to the south. Just one block away, there is Templo Mayor, a pre-Hispanic temple.
